This conversation was had nearly a year ago. Way before Covid went down. It took so long to air I actually wasn’t sure if Greg was going to air it at all. As he went a bit radio silent after the chat which at first led me to think he might have thought it was wank. My other theory is that he might not want to put it out because I mentioned entheogens, which are, for the most part as frowned upon in occult circles as they are within religious orthodoxy. I remembered it being an outstanding chat but never got a recording of it on my end of the Zoom call, so couldn’t share it privately and thus also kind of forgot the details of what we exactly talked about.
After having been on about 30 other podcasts over the last 5/10 years, I thought this was going to be only the second time a chat was never aired and the host went radio silent. I will privately say here that the first was Noah Lambert of Synchronicity. Who invited me on his podcast, we had a good conversation, and then he went 100% radio silent and never aired the episode. Which I have spoken to in a back private post which you can find entitled “The Hidden Podcast.”
After deciding to check back in with Greg cold last month, I mailed him, again, and proposed we re-record the call. Being dumped from most podcasts wouldn’t so much be anything I’d let get under the skin, but Occult of Personality is an extra special show. Like The Higherside Chats, it’s been one of the personal fav’s over the years. This time he replied and said that the reason it had yet to be released, was purely on him and that he held me in high regard. This was a nice piece of feedback because up until that point it was kind of like having a child kidnapped and never finding out anything. As in my book it would be better to know, even if it’s bad, than not know. So all good and this is just Greg’s speed for rolling out podcasts. Which has slowed quite a bit for him in the last year for numerous reasons, of which he had a good point that his taking large time away from continuing outputs has been necessary for him to grow as a person. And we do not disagree!
